PROF. DR. TIM NEWTON
PSYCHOLOGIST
Tim Newton is a Professor and Consultant in Psychology as Applied to Dentistry at King’s College London. He is also an Honorary Consultant Health Psychologist to the Office of the Chief Dental Officer (England) and an Honorary Professor at both University College London and University College Cork. Recipient of an International Association for Dental Research (IADR) distinguished scientist award, Prof. Newton dedicates a significant amount of time in clinical commitment to support individuals with dental phobia to overcome their fear and supports them in facing challenging dental procedures. He has a strong interest in the wellbeing of the dental team and has conducted research in this area as well as producing resources to support the well being of the dental team.
PROF. DR. ALİ ÇEKİCİ
PERIODONTOLOGIST
Prof. Dr. Ali Çekici graduated from Istanbul University in 2000. He completed his Ph.D. at the Department of Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul University, in 2007. Continuing his academic career, Prof. Dr. Çekici enhanced his scientific expertise by completing a two-year postdoctoral research program at The Forsyth Institute in Boston, USA, in 2012. Currently, he serves as a professor at the Department of Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul University, where he continues his academic and research endeavors. Prof. Dr. Çekici has made significant contributions to the field of periodontology through numerous articles published in international journals and presentations at international congresses. His publications have been cited over 7,000 times in international peer-reviewed journals, highlighting the impact of his research. Prof. Dr. Çekici also holds key leadership roles as the President of the Turkish Society of Periodontology and as a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP).
PROF. DR. DERYA ÇAKAN
ORTHODONTIST
Prof. Dr. Derya Germeç Çakan graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry in 1999 and completed her PhD in orthodontics in 2005. Since 2006, she has been working as a Professor at Yeditepe University Department of Orthodontics and maintaining the Craniofacial Orthodontics Clinic. She visited Seattle Children’s Hospital Craniofacial Center as an observer in 2015. Her principal areas of interest are cleft lip and palate, craniofacial anomalies, and interdisciplinary treatments. She published several clinical and research articles in national and international journals and wrote chapters in Esthetic and Functional Management of Diastema, Springer International Publishing.
She is a member of Turkish and European Orthodontic Society and Turkish Cleft Lip and Palate Association. She is the President of Turkish Orthodontic Society, member of the Executive Committee of Turkish Cleft Lip and Palate Association, and former editor-in-chief of Turkish Journal of Orthodontics.
PROF. DR. KORKUD DEMİREL
PERIODONTOLOGIST
Prof. Dr. Korkud Demirel completed his dental education at Istanbul University, graduating in 1985, and earned his PhD in Periodontology in 1992, focusing on the in-vitro effects of doxycycline hydrochloride on periodontally diseased root surfaces. He became an associate professor in 1996 and a full professor in 2002, specializing in periodontal plastic and esthetic procedures, surgical implant treatments, and guided tissue and bone regeneration.
Prof. Demirel has held notable roles in professional organizations, including Chair of the Executive Committee of the European Federation of Periodontology (2010–2011) and the Turkish Society of Periodontology (2010–2012). He is an accomplished educator and researcher, having authored 34 international articles, five book chapters, and several books translated into multiple languages. He has also mentored 13 PhD and three MSc theses. Currently, he is a faculty member at Istanbul Aydın University and manages PerioKursu, a private training institute for soft tissue management.
ASSOC. PROF. BURCIN ARICAN
ENDODONTIST
Dr. Burçin Arıcan graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Marmara University in 2010. She completed her Ph.D. at the Department of Endodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Marmara University in 2015. Between 2015 and 2017, she worked as an endodontics specialist in various clinics and prepared question banks for the DUS exam. In 2017, she returned to academic life and started working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Endodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul Okan University. In 2021, she joined Istanbul Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Dentistry as an Assistant Professor and obtained the title of Associate Professor in 2022. She currently serves as an Associate Professor and Vice Dean at the Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul Bahçeşehir University. She has been a
DR. BERKMAN ALBAYRAK
PROSTHODONTIST
Berkman Albayrak graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 2015. After graduation, he started his prosthodontics residency program at Ataturk University Faculty of Dentistry. In 2018, he received acceptance from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry as a visiting researcher. After completing his thesis and research projects, he returned to Turkey in 2019 and received the title of prosthodontist.
Later on his career he worked in private clinics in Istanbul. He has been working as an assistant professor at Bahçeşehir University School of Dental Medicine since 2020 and continues his academic research, lectures, and conferences. He has 14 articles published in international and national peer-reviewed journals. Since 2022, he has also been working in his own private clinic in Istanbul.
DR. SİNA SAYGILI
PROSTHODONTIST
Sina Saygılı completed his education at Istanbul German High School, graduating with a double high school diploma along with the Abitur. He then completed his undergraduate studies at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry and, as of 2022, has completed his PhD in Department of Prosthodontics, focusing on Complete and Partial prosthodontics.
Throughout his education, he has been actively involved in numerous associations, most notably serving on the board of the International Association of Dental Students (IADS) from 2013 to 2018. In 2016, he took on the role of president, representing his country, and he is currently an honorary member of IADS. In his clinical practice, Dr. Saygılı focuses on digital dentistry applications, prosthetic treatments, occlusion, and the treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders. Alongside his scientific work, he conducts national and international training courses. He is the educational coordinator of the Trigemy Online education platform. To share his knowledge and expertise, he founded a team named 220VDentistry in 2020, through which he produces and shares content on YouTube, Instagram, and Telegram. He is proficient in advanced German and English.
